Responsible Travel.
Why responsible & sustainable travel matters to us.
We love travel. But we don’t love what it can do to our planet.
Emissions. Over-tourism. Exploitation. Pollution. Tourism’s impact on the places and people of this planet is undeniable. When it empowers communities and builds awareness of our diverse environments it can be a force for good.
But when it results in environmental degradation, pollution, or overconsumption, its destructive and exploitative. Over the last 5 years of travel, we’ve witnessed the impact of plastic pollution, extreme poverty and exploitation, and environmental destruction firsthand, in countries all over the world.
Needless to say, it totally changed the way we approached our lives both at home and on the road.
More of us are travelling than ever before. But being able to travel, experience new cultures, and witness beautiful places is more than a great privilege; it also comes with great responsibility.
Tourism accounts for nearly a tenth of all the world’s global greenhouse gas emissions, overtourism is an issue globally, and slowly but surely, our beaches and oceans are filling up with plastic pollution.
It’s unavoidable that your next holiday will impact the planet in one of these ways. It’s your choice whether that impact will be positive or negative.
Responsible travel is understanding that your actions have consequences on places you visit. It’s about being socially, environmentally, and culturally aware, and trying to leave a place better than you found it.
The best part? Travelling responsibly is actually super easy (especially with our tips below!), and it guarantees that the beautiful communities and landscapes you enjoyed on your holiday will continue to thrive long after you’ve gone home.
