Our 2016 Travel Bucketlist
Hey 2015, sorry to tell you but you’re already an afterthought. Don’t get us wrong, you were good while you lasted, but honestly, you were little more than a means to an end for us; only perfect for those long winter nights curled up on the couch watching James Bond reruns allowing us to save and get set for our epic adventure.
We do want to thank you for everything you did for us; Tasmania, Singapore, Laos and Cambodia; they were all great.
But 2016 is here and she already seems more of a babe. In fact, we already have heaps of dates planned and are visiting Myanmar, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique, among others.
We don’t mean to make you jealous, but these are the ones we are most excited about; our 2016 travel bucketlist items.
Watch the sunrise from Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka
It’ll be fun and perhaps a little emotional, sitting atop Adam’s Peak watching the sunrise. And we'll be doing it with people from all walks of life; Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Muslims and Atheists.
Balloon Ride at Bagan, Myanmar
A balloon ride over an ancient temple city? Stop it, 2016! Another early morning rise will be worth it to watch the sunrise whilst floating silently over 2200 ancient temples.
Doing a homestay in Myanmar
No more James Bond re runs on our couch; in 2016 we want to immerse ourselves into a local’s way of life in Myanmar.
Holi Festival in India
A festival of colour? In India? Yes please.
Hiking the Annapurna Range, Nepal
What would life be without a challenge. 2013 was hiking to Everest Base Camp; 2014 was summiting Mt Kilimanjaro; 2015 was, well, nothing and 2016 will be hiking the Annapurna Circuit, Nepal.
Canoeing the Okavango Delta, Botswana
An African safari by canoe sounds like the perfect way to witness the big five. We’ll be there, excited beyond belief to see it all from a new perspective.
Skydiving in Namibia
An adrenaline fueled adventure of epic proportions; jumping out of an aeroplane over the Namibian desert. Lock us in.
Christmas Markets in Europe
Where, we don’t know just yet. Somewhere that has snow, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts etc. Any suggestions? Either way, it’ll be different from Christmas in Australia.
What do you think of our bucket list destinations? Anywhere we’ve missed? What are your bucket list items for 2016?
